Luwak Coffee @ Bali

Luwak Coffee or Civet Coffee is one of the ‘exotic’ foods that I had heard of many times from friends who visited Bali. Not to forget that this is also the most expensive coffee in the world!

What made Luwak Coffee so different from other coffee is the way the beans were harvested. Civet is known for its fondness for coffee beans and most likely the expert in its field. It is believed that they will only eat the best coffee beans. So farmers collect its poos and harvest those undigested beans. Sound yucky but surprisingly it doesn’t smell that bad. Most probably because it smell more like coffee than any other thing you can imagine.

Basically I am drinking cat’s poo here. The taste of the coffee is not as extraordinary as I imagine. Maybe its the way the coffee was prepared. Hot water (no temperature control) is simply added to the grinded coffee beans without even bother of filtering. Okay, that's very ordinary especially when you are enjoying a cup of coffee (most expensive) in the orchard. You might not expect a smartly dressed barista to serve you a cup of luwak coffee with coffee art and some fancy stuff here right? We had some great time chatting with the local young lady who serve us the coffee. She also walk us through the orchard/garden, showing us tress and fruits that we (Malaysian) already knew =)

This poor fella look so sad =’(

I do not know exactly how they collect those poos. If the rivet was caged and fed with beans, then I do not literally see the logic behind the 'special' harvesting method. Civet should be left free in the wild to select the best beans. Not forcing them to eat just to get their poos. Buying Luwak coffee seems like supporting animal abuse here.

Bali Day 1

We went on our honey moon almost 2 months from our Big Day. Why? Cos both of us agreed that we will continue to celebrate our anniversary on 7th July, the date when we first dated, instead of our actual marriage date. Right after that silly agreement, I suddenly realised that this is trap Kent carefully set-up for me. How could I agree on something so silly? I should have requested for a double celebration instead of choosing between ONE!
Anyway, most of the time, Kent is the one who bought present while I gracefully forget about the important date. LOL
So you may guessed that this round too, Kent is the master planner as well as the paymaster. The most contributing comment I ever gave was to agreed on the date of travel.
So basically, I knew we are heading to Bali but I do not know where exactly are we visiting at Bali itself. And I am bad with currency conversion, so he will be handling the financial matters too. =P
The first time I read a Bali map was when we were on the way to our hotel. More pathetically, it’s one of those child friendly tourist map. WTH

Taman Ayun

We could only walked surrounding the temple. Not sure if we are allowed to go in as it looks sacred while I am dressed a bit out of the dress code (if any). Well, I thought bali is an island surrounded by seas and beaches. Never knew it could be big enough to have so many ground attractions.

Pura Ulun Danu Bratan (Bali’s temple by the lake)

I was particularly amazed when we reach here. Could not believe that there’s a cooling hill/mountain on an island. That’s so cool!

Tanah Lot

Another Must-See Place in Bali. This is the only place where we are so near to the sea. LOL

KSSW Reception

Right after the ROM is the cocktail session.

Usually the hotel will provide free flow of soft drinks and some tit-bits for free. But since our ROM ended at about 1730 and dinner starts at 1900, we thought some really light junkies is good just to keep our guests 'alive'.

One of the best parts that I enjoy while preparing for our wedding is to do all these DIYs

KSSW RECEPTION (7)

I need to thank Pei Chee for helping me to organize the cocktail areas! Muacks!

Hanafi, the manager for our event, was detail enough to prepare us some nice glassware. That really makes all the different.

The idea of photobooth also kicks in because I wanted to make photo props. I am weird (^o^)

KSSW RECEPTION (6)

However, I wouldn’t want to spend another bomb on the backdrop which I might not even keep. So, I came out with this idea of hanging our pre-wed photos for guest to keep as remembrance, while I get one instant photo of theirs. Things just don’t always turn out to be the way you want it to be. I ended up keeping most of our pre-wed photos because my guests weren’t sure if they can take those. And most of the guests were happier to keep their own instant photo instead. Alright, understood, we are no superstars.

We held both our Reception and ROM in Concorde Hotel Shah Alam. Love this place because the layout was great. A rectangular ballroom without any pillars in between. They also allow us to use three of the meeting rooms. We used one of for our ROM and another as my changing room.
KSSW ROM (13)

The best part is still the loads of fresh flowers that they used to decorate our halls! Look at the awesome decoration piece for our main table.

I decided to use the same ROM gown for march in cos I wanna fully utilised the RM1500 gown that i bought! Meanwhile, it save me some time from changing my makeup and hairdo too.
The gown was supposed to be super fitting the week before. When i wear it on the actual day, it turned out to be one size too big! (Losses weight again). It's a tied-back-strap kind of dress but there's barely any zig-zag cos i was forced to tied to the very last mm. ='(
The worst part is that my boobs too shrinks one size or so. I have to put double layers of nude-bra just to make up to support! x_x! (Confession). The dress is like 3kg+ cos its all made up real cloth rather than a tutu inside. So worried that i couldn't carry the dress. (OMG...Is the dress dropping??)
Anyway, nothing embarrassing happened that night and the support was good enough. Lucky that I do not need to put diapers on the waist to make up the volume!

To be able to perform our first dance in our wedding is like a magical moment. Friends and family were surprised to learn that we can dance. Two years of training in professional ballroom dance doesn’t go to waste. Though I always wanted to learn dancing, it really didn’t cross my mind that we can actually dance in our wedding! Thanks to our principal from Taipan D'Dance World, Jo, for the special routine!
KSSW RECEPTION (20)

We were superb nervous if you ask. Dancing with 500 pairs of eyes watching is an unforgettable moment in our life.
Kent might looks super steady but I knew he was as nervous as I do. When our emcee invites us to the dance floor my heart felt like dropping. My legs got so shaky that I can barely walk straight.
Here’s the whole dance routine. We received lots of compliments but deep in our heart we knew we did few silly mistakes. Mine is the worst though! My feet are supposed to close shut not opened up like killing-scissor!

Time flies during the reception and it’s time to say goodbye. I knew the time will come when I started sobbing. Been holding myself back for a couple of times when I saw my family. Dare not look into my mum’s eye cos I knew both of us will cry in the end. Hello, I will be staying only 20mins away from home, why am I so heavy hearted? Silly me!

KSSW ROM

Right after the morning ceremony, we rushed to the hotel to prepare for our second session. The ROM.

KSSW ROM (13)

Everything flow according to the schedule. Stacey was there as planned for mum and my make-up. My besties were there to help out with the cocktail and reception preparation. The wedding cake was delivered as per scheduled. The ROM hall was flutters with loads of fresh flowers just like I dream of.

Everything was perfect. The surprised came when I learnt to know that Kent did not arrange for an emcee to announce our march in. It looks kinda weird when he announced our own arrival. I smiled and nagged him while marching in. 0_0!!
When, we saw four party poppers on the ROM table, we were both amused. My lil bro thought we were supposed pop that for our ROM =_=!!!

KSSW ROM (4)

KSSW ROM (9)

Other than that two funny ocassions, everything was perfect. Our ROM officer was superb punctual. We called and follow up really closely with JPN to ensure that somone will be around for our ROM. Lesson learn from my ex-colleague where their ROM officer decided not to come last minute. They left with no choice but to carry on the 'ceremony' with an emcee.

To our surprise, the whole ceremony was conducted in English while I was expecting it to be in BM (phew). Though we were so focused on her ‘speech’ I can’t remember a single word she mentioned by now.

KSSW ROM (5)

We were waiting anxiously for the moment to say ‘I do’ or maybe a ‘yes’. When the question pop up and Kent was so ready to answer‘yes’, the officer gave us a very stern signal of ‘No’. We were totally confused at that moment but we did as hinted. We were laughing so hard inside. It’s really weird to say ‘no’ in the ROM but that gave us something to remember of.

KSSW ROM (8)

After the super simple ROM, Kent spontaneously started to give speech. Okay…I wasn’t prepared for that. I was caught so unprepared! It left me no choice but to speak out whatever that crossed my mind. I don’t know why I started sobbing when I gave my short 2 sentences speech.
KSSW ROM (6)

Here’s our beautiful wedding cake. This is the ONE thing that I insisted to have for our wedding. There’s always a cake cutting ceremony in wedding dinner but never once they serve me a piece of it. I thought it must be difficult to serve everyone or maybe only the host will get a piece of it. Not until I am in my twenties that I realized what they had been cutting all this while was a pretty-dummy-cake. ^0^!
KSSW ROM (7)

This is the best cake that I ever had. It’s a beautiful-delicious-masterpiece from Cakestory.
KSSW ROM (10)

Not forgetting the little details on the shoe. A bit wasted cos it was hiding under my gown.
KSSW ROM (12)

Love the colour of my bouquet! Just like how i wanted it to be. Bouquet from Taipan Florist
